Biography
LakeSide is a Bluegrass Gospel Group from Madisonville, TN. We play a mixture of Gospel
Bluegrass, Inspirational and Bluegrass Music. Most of the group have played Bluegrass music for many years and we love bluegrass, old-time and most of all Gospel music! Our music is a blend of great harmonies and musical instrumentation, and is a blend of Bluegrass, Country and Southern Gospel styles. We compose our music in a manner that will touch the generations from young children through senior adults. We typically run 4 piece instrumentation (Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin and Bass) with a complement of smooth harmonies.
LakeSide started playing in churches throughout East Tennessee in 1995 as a family group called
“The Gospel Bluegrass Boys”. In 2007, due to some lineup changes, the group adopted the name “LakeSide.” This group are individuals that love all music and love the Lord. They desire to provide inspirational music so that people can be blessed and have a great time! Our prayer is for the Lord’s will to be completed in each of our lives. Greg Blankenship
I play mandolin and sing lead/harmony vocals for LakeSide. I love to sing and play in this group because we all view it as a ministry to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have played bluegrass music since I was 10 years old with my brother and friends. My primary instrument has always been the mandolin, because no one else played it, but I do love the mandolin. I am married to my wonderful wife “Ann” and we have two children “Megan” and “Lucas.” My wife and I are members of Vonore Baptist Church. My family is great; they are the ones that truly sacrifice for me to participate in this ministry. I love the Lord and my family, and only hope that I will be able to continue the ministry provided by LakeSide. John Shook
Hello, my name is John Shook. I started playing with LakeSide January 1, 2023. I have been playing bass and singing most of my life, starting as a lad in church. I have always enjoyed bluegrass and I love Jesus. That is why I look forward to sharing my talents and my testimony with everyone I can. I love playing with LakeSide because it allows me to glorify God with the gifts and talents He has provided. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Andrea Edmons Shook for 19 years and we have 4 beautiful children (Micah, Levi, John Isaac, and Elizabeth). God is worthy of our praise and my hope is that you will come to know him today!!
